GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Gov. Hochul announced proposals to boost online child safety and expand mental health resources for youth across New York. The plan includes stricter privacy settings for children on social media + expanded Teen Mental Health First Aid training for every 10th grade student statewide. CBS 6 Albany
- ➤ City officials are working to remove lead pipes as part of an EPA plan and ask residents to inspect basements for water service lines. The process will take several months and will lead to pipe replacement once federal and state funding is confirmed. CBS 6 Albany
- ➤ Volunteer and paid fire departments in the Capital Region are facing staffing shortages — Schenectady Fire Chief George Burns noted his unit is 14 short of the 120 needed for full coverage. Albany County Executive McCoy plans a new fire training facility to help attract more firefighters. WNYT

- ➤ Dr. Tim Maggs, a chiropractor in Schenectady, runs a pre-season exam program for student athletes (including a structural fingerprint exam and corrective treatments) to prevent injuries; the long-running program (now serving over 3,000 athletes) aims to lessen pain and help athletes stay active.
