- ➤ A Schenectady man was sentenced this week after admitting to selling fentanyl, federal prosecutors said. The Daily Gazette
- ➤ Schenectady police arrested Conroy A. Simpson from Queens on March 19th after he fled the intersection of Chrisler Avenue & Crane Street where a fatal hit and run left an eight-year-old boy unresponsive who later died at Ellis Hospital and led officials to find his vehicle in Woodlawn. - ➤ A Rotterdam man—Patrick Haggerty—is set to appear in Rotterdam Town Court today after police arrested him on Sunday following the stabbing death of his 79-year-old mother, Catherine Haggerty, whose body was found at her home on Cobblestone Court. CBS 6 Albany
- ➤ Schenectady authorities reported that Rance White, the suspect charged with fatally stabbing Amanda Jaikaran on Lincoln Ave last Friday, did not appear in court Thursday despite having a public defender+ his case has moved to the county level while a vigil is planned for today at 8 p.m. CBS 6 Albany
- ➤ Patrick Haggerty, a Rotterdam resident, has been charged with murder after his 79 year old mother, Catherine Haggerty, was found dead at her home on Cobblestone Court Sunday evening—he is set to appear in county court today. CBS 6 Albany
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Union announced a $60 million project to enhance its engineering and computer science programs with a new three-story building and renovations to Butterfield Hall and other spaces. The two-phase project will have a groundbreaking this summer and is set to open in fall 2027 — it is fully funded by donor gifts. Union College

- ➤ Capital Cardiology Associates said that CDPHP owed them millions for services rendered in 2024, a delay that has strained local providers. CDPHP said it withheld payments due to unprecedented financial pressures — and is working with government partners to seek federal relief. WNYT
