COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Vermont and Northeast New York Make-A-Wish chapter is asking local residents to join its global WishMakers Wanted drive ahead of World Wish Month in April. Every 20 minutes a child is diagnosed with a critical illness in the U.S.—the campaign will need more volunteers and donations so that every eligible child can receive a wish.  CBS 6 Albany

CRIME NEWS

  • Investigators are seeking new leads in the 37-year-old cold case of Terri Roark, a 31-year-old woman found dead on northbound I-87 Twin Bridges in Halfmoon on March 29th, 1988 — a bag with her items was later found 11 miles away and state and Saratoga police continue their inquiry.  CBS 6 Albany

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Schenectady City Hall clock tower will receive its most extensive renovation since its 1983 rebuild after a fire — work begins Monday.  The Daily Gazette
  • Hundreds of protesters rallied peacefully at Tesla dealerships and service centers nationwide, including at the Colonie Center Tesla charging station, as part of a global Tesla Takedown action opposing federal cuts by Elon Musk’s department of Government Efficiency+ New York Senator Patricia Fahy condemned the cuts and warned that the measures could affect key services while demonstrators urged selling Tesla vehicles and stock.  CBS 6 Albany
  • On Saturday, communities across the Capital Region held ceremonies to honor Vietnam veterans and mark 50 years since the Vietnam War ended, with Schenectady hosting events that featured music, the national anthem, and speeches from veterans and officials including Assemblymember Angelo Santabarbara. Schenectady County officials noted about 7,000 veterans live in the city, with (2,400) having served in Vietnam, and urged ongoing support for these local heroes.  News10 ABC
