EDUCATION NEWS

  • A mother accused the Schalmont Central School District of mishandling her 10-year-old child's education by not following the IEP and suspending the child multiple times over the years. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The New York State budget remains more than a week late—policy issues continue to slow talks among top state leaders today. • New York State switched CDPAP payroll services to PPL on April 1, but many caregivers still face technical issues and limited support. The state says payments will start Thursday—while a lawsuit over the transition remains under negotiation.  CBS 6 Albany
  • Assembly Majority Leader Crystal Peoples-Stokes held a press conference on Tuesday at the Capitol to introduce the bipartisan HEART Act, which would repeal the ban on patients joining more than one transplant wait list. The bill will allow patients to appear on multiple lists—helping low-income and Medicaid recipients—and aims to cut wait times and save lives for nearly 8,000 New Yorkers awaiting transplants.  News10 ABC
  • Traffic sensors showed many drivers exceeded the new 25 mph limit on Hamburg, Rosa, Watt, McDonald, and Clayton streets a month after the rule was set. City officials said they will monitor the data closely—already noting improvements on Norwood Avenue—and may install speed tables if needed.  CBS 6 Albany
  • City officials and residents condemned the federal funding cut for ice jam mitigation, warning it could increase flood risks in the Stockade neighborhood—local resident Colleen Macauley has driven along the Mohawk River each winter to check the ice and water conditions.
