  • Veteran community members will unveil a POW-MIA chair and plaque today at Legacy Park in Glenville, joining neighbors to honor fallen service members.  CBS 6 Albany
  • Yesterday, a CBS6 crew volunteered at Mohawk Hudson Humane Society during Sinclair’s Day of Service to sort bottles and cans for the Empties for Animals program — their work raised redemption rates from five to eight cents per container with proceeds funding animal care.  CBS 6 Albany

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Firefighters quickly put out a fire at 818 Albany Street just after 5 p.m. Wednesday, leaving two injured and six displaced — local officials are investigating the incident.  CBS 6 Albany

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Former nurses Greg and Tina opened Amazing Grazing & Gifts in Scotia at 125 Mohawk Avenue in fall 2025, offering handcrafted charcuterie, deli platters, meal bundles, and light fare. The business supports local nonprofits including Pete’s Rescue Ranch and Scotia Relief and will hold a grand opening soon.  WNYT

CRIME NEWS

  • A Schenectady SNAP recipient said her benefits were stolen twice when unknown users made purchases at a New York City store in February and March—after freezing her card she now fears checking her account as county rules prevent replacing lost funds.  CBS 6 Albany

CULTURE NEWS

  • Water for Elephants returns to Proctors Theatre in Schenectady this week and runs through April 12 - the Broadway musical earned seven Tony nominations in 2024 and offers multiple shows at the venue.  CBS 6 Albany

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Veterans who rely on the Rotterdam VA Community-Based Outpatient Clinic are upset as officials plan its summer closure for a service expansion - alternatives include offices in Clifton Park and Albany. State and federal leaders have urged further talks to address community care concerns.  CBS 6 Albany
  • The New York State Department of Transportation will host an open house on Route 7 safety updates at Iroquois Middle School in Niskayuna from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 16. DOT engineers will present updates including reduced speeds, narrower lanes and raised medians.  CBS 6 Albany

  • The Tri-City ValleyCats announced their new coaching staff on Wednesday—Manager Greg Tagert had his contract extended through 2028. The season starts on May 8 with the home opener on May 15.  CBS 6 Albany
