- ➤ The Drug Enforcement Administration will host the 28th National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on April 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Residents across the Capital Region can safely dispose of unwanted medication at designated sites—such as the Schenectady County Sheriff’s Substation at 130 Princetown Plaza. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Christopher Gil (48) of Schenectady pleaded guilty to conspiring to possess with intent to distribute meth after admitting in 2024 to distributing hundreds of pills on three separate occasions, and his sentencing is scheduled for August 7 where he faces up to 20 years in prison, a $1 million fine, and extended post-imprisonment supervision. - ➤ A 42-year-old parolee from Schenectady was charged with assault after he attacked a woman on Washington Avenue on April 7 around 7:20 p.m.—she suffered facial injuries and he now faces charges of Assault 3rd, Criminal Obstruction of Breathing, and Forcible Touching while being held in Albany County Jail. - ➤ Bishop Edward Scharfenberger warned of a financial and maintenance crisis in the Diocese of Albany in his Monday letter. He said the diocese may have to give up one third of its 126 parish churches and schools to secure its future—more details on the plan will come in June. News10 ABC
