COMMUNITY NEWS

  • NYzipline, formerly known as Mountain Ridge Adventure, opened its outdoor park on Saturday as it rebranded for its 10-year anniversary — the park features a 10-zipline canopy tour, six high ropes course levels, and a 40-foot leap of faith jump with starter, zipline, and treetop passes available online.  News10 ABC

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Stewart’s Shops is giving free hot coffee, tea, or hot chocolate today to anyone who uses a refillable mug up to 32 ounces for Earth Day— the store also offers discounted prices on hot beverages year-round for customers with reusable mugs— encouraging green choices.  News10 ABC

CRIME NEWS

  • A Schenectady man pleaded guilty to second‑degree attempted criminal possession of a weapon on Monday after admitting he had a loaded 9mm handgun with 16 rounds—modified for automatic fire—and about 24.7 grams of cocaine in plastic baggies; he will be sentenced on July 14.  News10 ABC
  • On April 17, Schenectady Police arrested three suspects after a larceny report at a Family Dollar on Eastern Parkway and executed a search warrant at a nearby residence that turned up stolen merchandise valued at $18,131.15—charges include criminal possession, petit larceny, and conspiracy.  CBS 6 Albany

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Starting May 1st, Scotia-Glenville schools will begin using BusPatrol cameras on 30 buses to record drivers passing stopped school buses — drivers who commit a first violation will pay a $250 fine. The new system uses 4K cameras and artificial intelligence — funds from fines will cover the equipment cost.  CBS 6 Albany

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • CDTA held a public meeting on April 21 at the Guilderland Public Library to review proposed changes to its FLEX On Demand service and Route #117. A second meeting will be held on April 23 at the Mechanicville Public Library — the changes include a new point-to-point pick-up method and route adjustments that will take effect on May 25 while comments are accepted until April 25.  CBS 6 Albany
  • Glenville announced a new bus safety program for the Scotia-Glenville School District that will start on May 1 and use BusPatrol's AI system to take pictures of cars illegally passing a stopped bus + officials said BusPatrol will cover initial costs and earn revenue from fines set at $250 for a first offense, following more than 6,000 violations in Albany County last October.  CBS 6 Albany
