ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • NY State Senator Pete Harckham and Assemblymember Dr. Anna Kelles, along with environmental advocates and farmers, called for a ban on using toxic biosolids on farmland to protect water, soil, and public health. The proposed legislation would impose a five-year moratorium and require testing of soil and groundwater — similar to bans already in place in Maine and Connecticut.  CBS 6 Albany

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • This fall, Schenectady will open a new arena at Mohawk Harbor with a public overlook that offers visitors a sweeping view of the Mohawk River — the enhancement is part of the city's development plans.  The Daily Gazette
  • Governor Kathy Hochul announced today a state budget deal that will save nearly $5,000 for New York families — the plan includes tripling the Child Tax Credit, tax cuts, refund checks and free school meals statewide.  CBS 6 Albany

HEALTH NEWS

  • This Friday the Logan Strong Foundation will host the 3rd Annual Gold Gala to raise funds for families battling childhood illness—proceeds will fund essential resources and support services.  CBS 6 Albany
  • Parents of medically fragile children have asked lawmakers to pass the Complex Care Act to pay them for 50 hours a week as they fill the gap left by a nursing shortage. The bill—sponsored by Senator Shelley Mayer—has bipartisan support and aims to help families who lost work to provide full-time care.  News10 ABC
