CRIME NEWS

  • An unhoused man was charged with third-degree arson—fire officials responded Tuesday morning at Sierra Motors on State Street to reports of two burning cars—and no injuries were reported.  News10 ABC
  • Anthony Lewis—accused of fatally stabbing his mother and stepfather in July 2023 at a Rotterdam home on Fern Avenue—appeared in Schenectady County Court Tuesday after being detained in Pennsylvania following a car crash and now faces life in prison without parole if convicted.  WNYT
  • Ronald Rayher, accused of manslaughter in the death of local Elvis impersonator Thomas Krider—also known as TJ Greene—faces trial in Saratoga County Court today while both sides agree that their sexual roleplay was consensual.  WNYT

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Since May 7, New Yorkers must show a Real ID or passport for domestic flights and access to federal buildings — many are still lining up as the DMV adds more appointments. Officials warn that travelers with non-compliant IDs may face extra screening or delays.  CBS 6 Albany

HEALTH NEWS

  • Health officials said that the 2024-2025 flu season was the deadliest for children in New York, with 25 influenza-linked pediatric deaths—only one child was vaccinated and five were too young for the shot. The CDC reported 216 pediatric deaths nationwide, marking the highest toll in 15 years.  CBS 6 Albany
  • Era Lika survived childhood leukemia after nearly two years of treatment in Italy and later moved to the US. She works in pharmaceuticals in the Capital Region and is raising money with the Leukemia — Lymphoma Society’s Visionaries of the Year campaign.  WNYT
