  • Kelly’s Angels will host its 13th annual Mother-Lovin’ 5K on Mother's Day at Saratoga Spa State Park in support of families who lost a loved one to cancer — more than 1,200 participants are expected to run or walk starting at 9:15 a.m. on Sunday.  WNYT

  • Broadway Joe’s pizza shop in Schenectady reopens today after an alleged drunk driver crashed into the building at about 4:30 a.m. on Wednesday — Marco Duran is charged with DWI and is due in court later this month.  WNYT

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • New York Attorney General Letitia James sued the U.S. Department of Transportation on May 7 to restore about $120 million reserved for electric vehicle charging projects — the suit, joined by 16 states and D.C., challenges a funding freeze that halted work on stations, including a project from a company based in Schenectady.  News10 ABC

HEALTH NEWS

  • New data shows that parvovirus is affecting dogs in New York, with 77 cases statewide and 32 cases in Schenectady County—vaccination is the best shield against a virus that kills 91% of unassisted puppies. Veterinarians urge owners of nonvaccinated dogs to steer clear of dog parks and daycares and to watch for symptoms such as vomiting and diarrhea.  CBS 6 Albany
  • New York’s early intervention program is facing delays as many therapists leave, leaving children like Lucas from Niskayuna waiting over a year for vital services.
