- ➤ Dozens of residents joined a 90-minute spin class Saturday morning at Best Fitness in Schenectady to raise funds and awareness for the Albany Ride for Missing Children—registration for the 100-mile ride on September 19th is open. Class coordinator Taylor Hill said many participants donated $20 and shared personal stories during the event. CBS 6 Albany
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A 17-year-old girl died from injuries after a dirt bike accident in Central Park on May 16 at 8:49 p.m.—she struck a chain barrier near Duck Pond Road, was taken to Ellis Hospital, and authorities are investigating the incident. CBS 6 Albany
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Lucas Aurelio—Russell Sage alumnus and actor from Bridgeton—spoke at the Class of 2025 graduation at Russell Sage College, sharing his journey from a local student to a hit TV star. He recounted his early days in the Capital Region and his college experiences, adding context to his current work on the Netflix series. CBS 6 Albany
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Due to high water on the Mohawk, the New York Power Authority and Canal Corporation will repair flashboards at Crescent and Vischer Ferry dams starting Tuesday, May 20; water levels will be lowered overnight May 19 and repairs will continue until Wednesday, May 21—delays may occur if weather worsens. - ➤ State Senator Jeremy Cooney introduced a bill in New York this week that would require dealers to show any price increases from federal tariffs on new cars so buyers know how the price is set—lawmakers say the rule will build trust.
