  • This month, 15 Girl Scouts in Northeastern New York will receive the Gold Award — the top honor for leadership and community impact. Girl Scouts CEO Brenda Episcopo and award recipient Katie Shimick discussed the award's significance on CBS6 Morning.  CBS 6 Albany

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Multiple top-prize winning tickets were sold in the May 17 TAKE 5 Evening drawing, with a local ticket from Hannaford in Latham earning $16,502.50 & another ticket in Hawthorne winning the same amount.  CBS 6 Albany

HEALTH NEWS

  • Price Chopper and Market 32 have teamed with Freihofer’s to donate 10 cents to the Alzheimer’s Association for each Freihofer’s product sold during May and June — an effort that will help people battling Alzheimer’s and support their caregivers.  WNYT
  • A New York watchdog group warned Medicare cardholders this month that scammers may use personal health information for false billing—seniors should check their Medicare statements and call Medicare or a doctor if errors are found.  CBS 6 Albany
  • Druthers Brewing Company hosted a Sunday event that featured a two-and-a-half mile walk and lunch to raise funds for a cure for Type 1 diabetes—35% of all lunch checks were donated to Breakthrough T1D. Zach Richter emceed the event.  WNYT
  • Market 32/Price Chopper has partnered with Freihofer’s Baking Company to raise funds for the Alzheimer’s Association to support disease detection and treatment efforts — the program will run through May and June. Qualifying products are marked — every purchase of these items donates 10 cents to help fund research.  News10 ABC
