- ➤ The annual summer kickoff returns to Upper Union Street tomorrow with fun activities like pony rides—face painting and a bounce house. Anthony Adonnino of Homestyle said local restaurants and businesses expect a couple thousand people to join the event. CBS 6 Albany
- ➤ The city of Schenectady has announced a new free concert series called Bands on Broadway that will run every Thursday on Broadway Stage through August 7 — Broadway will be closed during the concerts, and restaurants are offering specials. WNYT
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Jonathan Emery from Fonda drove under the influence on Maple Avenue in Glenville and lost control, which caused the death of Marissa Trapasso; he pleaded guilty on March 14 and will serve 8 to 16 years in state prison (his license is revoked) (he must attend an impaired driver program). - ➤ On May 23, Troy police arrested 37-year-old Antwon Cooper after a foot chase during a drug investigation and later detained 34-year-old James Keyes on May 28 after he fled a traffic stop—both men face charges for drug-related offenses and resisting arrest. CBS 6 Albany
- ➤ Fonda man Jonathan Emery pleaded guilty to aggravated vehicular homicide on March 14 for a 2024 crash on Maple Avenue in Glenville that killed 40-year-old Marissa Trapasso—he was sentenced to eight to 16 years in state prison by Judge Matthew Sypniewski. News10 ABC

- ➤ SUNY Schenectady got approval Friday from the FAA to train air traffic controllers through its Enhanced Air Traffic Collegiate Training Initiative. The program will help with a shortage of controllers. The Daily Gazette
