- ➤ U.S. Marshals and Amtrak Police arrested Terrence Ravenell, a 28-year-old wanted in Troy for missing sentencing in a drug trafficking case and for allegedly carrying a loaded weapon, in Schenectady on June 17—he had fled to California before boarding a train bound for New York. News10 ABC
- ➤ A woman was arrested—accused of extorting a victim out of more than $250K—in Schenectady County, state police said. The Daily Gazette
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ SUNY Schenectady hosted an open house for prospective air traffic controllers that featured its nationally recognized program using state-of-the-art AI voice technology (allowing students to practice real-time communications) amid a national shortage, and Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy highlighted the program’s role in boosting work readiness for FAA jobs. Mary Silvestri, director of admission, said the program offers a two-year path to earn an associate degree, made possible by its enhanced Collegiate Training Initiative status. CBS 6 Albany
