- ➤ Residents gathered at Patriot Hill this weekend for the Summer Fest and enjoyed a series of community activities—organized by local leaders—while celebrating local culture. The Daily Gazette
- ➤ At a summer festival in Central Park, families in Schenectady gathered to honor hometown heroes from the National Guard, Army Reserves, and active forces. Patriot Hills organized the event and is raising funds for a resiliency center for veterans and their families—while looking for a location in Schenectady County, Albany County, and Saratoga—adding extra support for local heroes. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Ariana 'Ari' Rogowski from Niskayuna graduated as co-salutatorian from Union College — her family and friends say she works hard and is set for more success. The Daily Gazette
- ➤ Schenectady High School students will need to lock their cellphones in pouches during class (a statewide bell-to-bell ban is in effect) when they return this September. The policy applies to the 25-26 school year and is meant to reduce distractions. The Daily Gazette
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law will give Capital Region airports $40M in federal funding; Albany International Airport will use nearly $22M to rebuild 60,000 square feet of its terminal while Floyd Bennett Memorial, Schenectady County, and Columbia County Airports will spend funds on taxiway, drainage, and weather system upgrades—efforts that will update key airport facilities.
