- ➤ Stewart’s Shops opened a new 4,000-square-foot store at 1100 Highbridge Road in Rotterdam on July 8 as a $2.8 million investment just off I-890. The shop will celebrate its grand opening on Friday, July 25 by offering specials such as fuel discounts, free cones, and discounted food items—along with a $1,500 donation to CREATE Community Studios. - ➤ Julia Servin, 22, was sentenced in Schenectady County Court on July 17 for repeatedly shaking an almost five-month-old infant—she faces six years in state prison while the baby, who suffered brain and retinal hemorrhages and was airlifted to Westchester Medical Center, is receiving outpatient care. - ➤ Quirino Rotondo, owner of Metro Industrial Wrecking & Environmental Construction, was sentenced to 12 months in prison and two years of supervised release—he must also pay $1,235,804 in restitution after pleading guilty to eight counts of tax evasion that misclassified high-risk demolition workers after a fatal accident.
