ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ On July 4th, Schenectady Police rescued a disoriented man from a burning home (1584 and 1588 Avenue A) when Sergeant Stevens spotted him stepping onto the porch before he collapsed; investigators said carelessly discarded fireworks caused the blaze. WNYT
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Travis Telemaque, 41, was arrested on July 17 for a stabbing on Victory Avenue and charged with first-degree assault and criminal possession of a weapon — police are asking for help locating a black 2014 BMW 535 four-door sedan with registration LER 7019. WNYT
- ➤ A Schenectady man was sentenced on Wednesday to eight years in prison for trafficking drugs from California into the Capital Region—Terence Butler, 36, admitted directing meetings with a drug distributor in Beverly Hills and will also forfeit $77,000 while serving four years of post-release supervision. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The trial for the St. Clare’s pensioners’ case against the Roman Catholic Diocese of Albany is set to begin on November 3 after a six-year court process— a court conference on September 19 will decide what evidence is allowed as pensioners are represented by the Attorney General’s office and AARP Foundation attorneys.
