- ➤ On Saturday, Schenectady hosted the ninth annual Karen B. Johnson Family Fun Day that brought families together with games, fishing, food, and music; the event was started by former Mayor Karen Johnson and local community members. Mayor Gary McCarthy noted recent park upgrades and organizers plan to expand next year to attract more vendors and over 1,000 attendees. CBS 6 Albany
- ➤ The historic carousel at Huck Finn Playland reopened Friday after months of repair—new parts fixed the ride that suffered winter damage and revived a classic attraction from Hoffman's Playland. The park now operates Tuesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. CBS 6 Albany
- ➤ On Thursday, Lavender—the animal abuse survivor—entered the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society with lots of energy that made her look very different from when she arrived in critical condition. The Daily Gazette

- ➤ Frederick Hollingshed from Schenectady County was sentenced on Friday to between 2 1/2 and 5 years in prison and must repay $16,196 after he stole COVID unemployment benefits by using the same IP address and phone line to access a victim’s account—investigators said he began his scheme in November 2020. - ➤ Schenectady City School District named five new administrators including three assistant principals at Schenectady High School and a district attendance specialist tasked with reducing chronic absenteeism. The Daily Gazette

- ➤ Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara visited local service providers this week to mark the 35th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act, meeting with Liberty ARC and New York State Industries for the Disabled—he presented an official proclamation recognizing their work in making our community more inclusive.
