GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Schenectady City Council will debate a proposed law banning evictions without good cause to help protect tenants amid rising rents and rising real estate prices. The council will also review a $3.97 million grant for lead hazard reduction and plans for public safety services—actions that could lead to significant policy changes.  CBS 6 Albany
  • Governor Hochul announced a new cybersecurity law now in effect across New York. The law requires towns and public groups to report cyber attacks in 72 hours and ransom payments in 24 hours—victims must share payment details in 30 days while employees take yearly cybersecurity training.  CBS 6 Albany
