- ➤ Andre G. Cobb, 55, of Glenville, was arrested on Wednesday and charged with second-degree Menacing and fourth-degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon after he reportedly displayed a handgun during a road rage incident on I-787 on July 20 at 5:09 p.m. (the legally owned firearm was seized) and he received an appearance ticket for Watervliet City Court. CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Officials announced a lottery game to mark the Erie Canal bicentennial; the game will let residents honor the historic waterway that once moved supplies over the Appalachian Mountains—adding a new way to celebrate its legacy. The Daily Gazette
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and Department of Health have warned residents and visitors to be careful as wildfire haze makes the air unhealthy, with the index rising to between 100 and 150. People with lung or heart disease, those over 65, and pregnant women should limit outdoor activities—coughing can be an early sign of trouble. CBS 6 Albany

- ➤ State Sen. Jim Tedisco supports 1,100 former St. Clare’s Hospital workers who lost their pensions six years ago when the fund lacked insurance. He said the state must help them+ a trial to restore their benefits is set to start in November. WNYT

- ➤ Restaurant Week comes to downtown Schenectady as 13 restaurants are scheduled to offer multi-course menus during the event from August 18 to 24. The Downtown Schenectady Improvement Corporation announced lunch menus starting at $20 & dinner menus costing $30 or $40 will be available. CBS 6 Albany
