- ➤ A Schenectady man—29-year-old Ryan Perry—was arrested Friday morning and charged with attempted murder after he shot a woman in her 30s in the leg at Watt Street and Tremont Avenue on August 11, and he faces additional charges for weapon possession, firearm use, and reckless endangerment while the woman recovers. CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Country music star Lee Brice will perform at the grand opening of the new arena at Mohawk Harbor and sing at M and T Bank Center. The concert on Saturday, September 6th marks his return to the Capital Region after a 2023 show at the Palace Theatre in Albany. WNYT
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Governor Hochul announced over $1.12M in funding to 25 farmers' market groups, including Schenectady Greenmarket Inc (which will receive $50K), to upgrade market infrastructure such as booths, signage, and online sales. The grant program, part of the 2024-25 state budget, aims to strengthen fresh food access and support local farmers. CBS 6 Albany
