- ➤ Longtime CBS6 anchor and reporter Greg Floyd is retiring after 45 years in local news, CBS6 Albany said Tuesday. The Daily Gazette
- ➤ CBS6 anchor Greg Floyd announced his retirement after 45 years in journalism. He began his career as an intern in 1979 and earned awards for his reporting while hosting charity events — his final chapter will include hosting Melodies of Christmas this December. CBS 6 Albany
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ A free school supply store is now open to help Capital Region teachers get the supplies they need for back-to-school without using their own money (teachers can call 518-434-6100 for an appointment). Pastor Charlie Muller started the store after noting that past backpack giveaways often had items that were not needed. WNYT
- ➤ At Union’s Convocation held Tuesday in Memorial Chapel, President Elizabeth Kiss welcomed 470 new students chosen from over 9,500 applicants and marked the start of the 231st academic year. She also honored faculty winners Chad Rogers and Bunkong Tuon for excellence and recognized Paisley Parmenter with a student award—classes begin today. Union College
- ➤ Pleasant Valley Elementary in Schenectady named Pizzo as its new principal after five years as assistant principal—he will replace Christina Howard, who became the district's director of attendance and behavioral supports last August. The Daily Gazette
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Crews responded Tuesday night to a water main break near 377 Saratoga Road in the Town of Glenville that may cause low water pressure and cloudy water on streets—Glenbrook Rd, Willowbrook Rd, Witbeck Dr, Stottle Ln, Glendale Rd and parts of Saratoga Rd—with town officials urging residents to run faucets for several minutes and promising to notify affected properties if a boil water order is needed.
