- ➤ Schenectady’s new M&T Bank Center will debut Saturday, Sept. 6 with a Lee Brice concert at Mohawk Harbor—crews will quickly convert the ice rink into a stage while the $55 million arena, built for hockey and future events like comedy and trade shows, aims to boost downtown. This versatile venue is designed to seat 2,300 for hockey and up to 3,500 for concerts. CBS 6 Albany
- ➤ The St. George Greek Orthodox Church will host its 49th Annual Greek Festival from September 5 to September 7 at the Hellenic Center on Liberty Street. - ➤ As the new school year begins, several local school districts face staffing shortages—Albany reports 113 job openings with 22 teaching roles and 24 food service vacancies, Schenectady has 37 openings with 4 teacher vacancies, and Troy lists 13 openings including one for special education.
