CRIME NEWS

  • 36-year-old Clifford Hatton-Bey from Schenectady was convicted of grand larceny and other felony charges for falsifying income records to secure low rent in public housing—he is set to be sentenced on October 30.  CBS 6 Albany
  • 61 year old Joseph Munafo from Schenectady was sentenced to two to six years in prison after pleading guilty to recording pictures and videos of a coworker without her knowledge — the coworker said she felt unsafe working with him for 20 years.  CBS 6 Albany
  • Schenectady lawyer Kevin Litz pleaded guilty Friday to evidence tampering after admitting he knowingly offered false evidence in a proceeding—officials said.  The Daily Gazette

CULTURE NEWS

  • A Union College administrator has been selected as Schenectady’s first poet laureate — he will serve as the city’s artistic voice at public events and work with school district students.  The Daily Gazette

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • New York State libraries face aging infrastructure, flooding, staffing, and budget challenges while serving communities during tough economic times. Lawmakers and the New York Library Association support the Freedom to Read Act to protect school libraries and plan to extend these protections to public libraries in the near future.  CBS 6 Albany
