  • A seafood fundraiser, Lobsterama, will be held on October 4th at 750 Grooms Road in Rexford—lobsters will be transported from Maine to raise funds for volunteer fire training, equipment, and operations—.  CBS 6 Albany

CRIME NEWS

  • On Saturday at 12:56 p.m., Niskayuna police investigated an attempted bank robbery at Trustco Bank on State St when a man passed a note demanding money—no money was taken—and officers later apprehended a suspect.  CBS 6 Albany
  • On September 5th, 2025, Schenectady police, assisted by the NYPD and ATF, arrested Bronx man Calvin Williams Jr—charged with second degree murder—in connection with the 2021 homicide at Tropics Restaurant & Bar on 201 S. Brandywine Av where two others were injured and treated at local hospitals.  CBS 6 Albany

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The campus exhibition displays 250 works by over 80 students from the 2024-2025 school year, making it the largest and most diverse Steinmetz event held to date—showing a significant expansion of the annual symposium.  Union College
  • This week marks back-to-school in the Capital Region as kids receive free books from the Dolly Parton Imagination Library offered by United Way of the Greater Capital Region & in-person sign-ups give every child from birth to age five a copy of The Little Engine That Could with monthly deliveries to build early reading skills.  CBS 6 Albany
