  • Kelly’s Angels, established by NewsChannel 13 anchor Mark Mulholland, has helped hundreds of local families face life-threatening illness over its 15 years—its Calling All Angels gala will be held on October 11 at Saratoga Springs City Center in memory of Kelly Mulholland, who died of cancer in 2007.  WNYT

  • Chris Duncan — a long-time professor who will retire soon — is showing 44 works in his exhibit 'Chris Duncan: Beats and Riffs' at the Crowell and West galleries in the Feigenbaum Center at Union.   • National Grid explained that your upcoming utility bill is divided into a 38% supply charge and a 62% delivery charge—covering costs from buying electricity to maintaining infrastructure and funding state programs.   • Union College's new president discussed challenges for the liberal arts school — leaders from three local academic institutions shared concerns about education in the Schenectady 25 series.  The Daily Gazette

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Consumer Reports advises Schenectady residents to unplug electronics before a storm to avoid power surges and to use surge protectors, battery saver mode, and portable chargers for safe connectivity. The advice also recommends using inverter generators for essential appliances—steps to protect devices during severe weather.  CBS 6 Albany

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Glenville lawmakers approved a $96,827 contract with Lion First Responder PPE last week to buy hose line training apparatus and props for the emergency fire training facility at 1725 Vley Road Extension.  The Daily Gazette
  • Governor Hochul announced on Sept. 15 that $13.9M in cybersecurity grants were available to local governments and schools to help buy Multi-Factor Authentication tokens. The grants will boost digital defenses for critical public services—strengthening key state systems against cyber threats.  CBS 6 Albany
  • Former Congressional candidate Liz Joy, a Glenville resident, was elected head of the Schenectady County GOP on Tuesday — she will now lead the party in upcoming local elections.  The Daily Gazette
