  • Bare Blends—a woman-owned health food restaurant—unveiled its new location at Stuyvesant Plaza between Blaze Pizza and the Pottery Place on Friday and will debut a new menu with wraps, baked goods, and avocado toasts made on locally sourced sourdough bread.  WNYT

CULTURE NEWS

  • Local artist Hannah Williams painted a giant mural on a 120-year-old wall near the Amtrak station along Erie Boulevard for Schenectady Metroplex, Amtrak and Albany Barn Inc.—she has already completed over 50 murals in upstate towns using her doodle grid method.  WNYT

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Maria College signed a Memorandum of Understanding with 24 human service organizations in the Capital Region to boost healthcare education access—students can start as medical assistants or licensed practical nurses and progress to a bachelor’s degree online with support to complete studies by May 2027. The partnership helps meet the growing demand for skilled healthcare workers in local community and group home settings.  CBS 6 Albany
  • Mohonasen Central School District got a $525,000 grant to help students without homes and add needed support. The funds will boost services for an increasing number of these students—ensuring they have access to essential resources.  The Daily Gazette

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Rennie Glasgow, union VP for Capital Region federal workers, told CBS6 on Friday that Social Security employees in Schenectady were hurt by the shutdown as many were furloughed or working without pay. He urged Congress to act soon so that federal workers can continue serving the public — with better morale and job security.  CBS 6 Albany

  • The annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s brings hundreds of participants to Mohawk Harbor today to raise funds and awareness for a disease that affects more than 7 million Americans.  The Daily Gazette
