- ➤ The Schenectady County holiday parade is over a month away and has named its grand marshal while Schenectady Shares has launched a food drive to collect nonperishable food and hygiene items for local pantries until October 31—Jackie Clute and Michelle Osterlich discussed the drive on CBS6 Weekend Morning. - ➤ Simone's Kitchen won the People's Choice award at the Schenectady Wing Walk — local voters chose it over several competitors. The Daily Gazette
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Schenectady hosted its annual National Drive Electric event where officials unveiled a fully electric school bus and the police department’s first electric patrol car east of the Mississippi—features that reduce noise and cut emissions. Mayor McCarthy said the event highlighted the city's commitment to clean energy and plans to expand charging stations. CBS 6 Albany
- ➤ On Sunday, Schenectady hosted the NY Capital District Drive Electric and Sustainability Fair downtown where over 60 electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles were on display. Mayor Gary McCarthy noted that EVs cost about half as much to operate as gas vehicles — the city introduced a fully electric patrol car and companies like Lynkwell showcased charging solutions. WNYT
