- ➤ Gov. Hochul announced new state aid amid the shutdown—$30 million in emergency food help was added to earlier funds to keep pantries stocked as over 3 million people risk losing SNAP benefits in November. She warned upcoming federal changes may cut food, heating and health care for many and urged lawmakers to unfreeze funding. CBS 6 Albany
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Local doctors at Saint Peter’s Health Partners say it is time to get a flu shot as CDC data shows between 27,000 and 38,000 flu-related deaths this season with rising risks for children and vulnerable adults. Dr. Arthur Gran said the vaccine takes two weeks to work and urged residents to get vaccinated soon — a measure he described as the best defense — to help reduce flu hospitalizations. WNYT
