  • Yesterday, a record crowd attended Rotterdam's 66th Annual Veterans Day Service as the Rotterdam Veterans Committee and the Town of Rotterdam honored local veterans—demonstrating strong community connectivity.  The Daily Gazette

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Most of the Capital Region saw its first snowfall this week, and dozens of accidents occurred in Bennington and Berkshire Counties. Steven Waters, chief of the Bennington Rural Fire Department, advised drivers to take it slow and check their tires — especially on icy bridges — to avoid further issues.  WNYT

  • Union student Cole Randall helped U.S. Army veteran Dr. David Matloff write a memoir of his Vietnam experiences—Library of Congress accepted the memoir to keep his important story for future readers.  Union College

  • Because of a government shutdown, 1.5 million New Yorkers will wait until November 17th to apply for HEAP to heat their homes. The Senate voted to fund the government — and the House will vote tomorrow — to help low-income families stay warm this winter.  CBS 6 Albany
  • Veterans were honored on Veterans Day at Gerald B.H. Solomon National Cemetery in Schuylerville despite a shutdown that limited services—Clifton Park resident Betsy Bitner said the ceremony impacted her deeply among snowy tombstones.  The Daily Gazette
