Good morning, Schenectady.

For 60 years, Schenectady Community Action Program has helped nearly 12,000 people a year by providing housing, job training, early learning, and behavioral health services to about 4,000 households — today rising childcare and housing costs along with federal funding uncertainties have increased the challenges for the families it serves. The nonprofit urges holiday donations as 90 cents of every dollar goes directly to community services.

Local leaders broke ground yesterday on the Empire State Youth Orchestra facility in Scotia to create a dedicated home for the group.

The event marked the first step in the orchestra's plan to serve young musicians in our community.

Experts predict record travel as over 82 million Americans head to their families for Thanksgiving today and tomorrow — Albany International Airport expects more than 30,000 departures and Amtrak is set to see rising passenger numbers.
