  • Schenectady is considering a $4.14 million project to build a two-lane connector road between Jay Street and Nott Street, including a multi-use trail, with $2 million funded by the Downtown Revitalization initiative.  CBS 6 Albany

CRIME NEWS

  • A Schenectady man confessed to rape and arson, leading to a 30-year prison sentence for crimes committed in May, including the assault of two women and setting fire to an apartment.  The Daily Gazette
  • Dontie Mitchell was found not guilty of 2nd Degree Attempted Murder but guilty of 2nd Degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon, with the jury citing reasonable doubt for the former based on the evidence presented.  CBS 6 Albany

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Schenectady High School is enhancing security by installing weapons detection systems, including 15 RONIN detectors and five bag scanners, after a series of violent incidents, with funding partly covered by a $500,000 Department of Justice grant.  The Daily Gazette
