Equipment replacement, up to$8,000

If you're worried about heating costs this winter, New York's Home Energy Assistance Program is now accepting applications. The benefit could reach up to $1,086, depending on how you heat your home, for low- and middle-income households and older adults. Apply at ny.gov/ or at your local department of social services, online, by mail or in person.

  • Emergency applications open Jan. 4 for homes at risk of losing fuel
  • Regular applications expected open through February, funds permitting
  • Benefits go first come, first served
  • NY Connects helpline: 800-342-9871

Eligibility depends on household income size and fuel type, Commissioner Barbara Quinn said. Each eligible household gets one regular benefit per season. Funds can run out, so we suggest applying soon.
